Antique Staffordshire mist-type mug, circa 1800-1820.
Manufactured by Chetham & Woolley.
This large and lightweight mug features a relief fox-hunting scene on a blue ground with a horizontally reeded base and foliated handle.
White stoneware.
This exact mug is held in the ceramics collection at the Victoria & Albert museum.
Condition:
Wear commensurate with age. Small piece missing from handle. There are a few hairline cracks - one across the base of the mug which can be seen from the interior and exterior, one across the base of the handle and one running from the rim near the handle to approximately halfway down the mug. One small discoloured area at base. Some hairline cracks in the relief decoration. Please refer to images.
