This rare and deeply personal heirloom was custom-made by Tiffany & Co. from the original copper plate used to print invitations for a 1919 New York wedding. The reverse-etched surface preserves the exact text used in the letterpress process.

The engraved inscription reads:

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Halsey Rue request the pleasure of company at the marriage of their daughter Ella Florence to Mr. James Van der Veer Van Siclen on Saturday the twenty-sixth of April at half after seven o'clock at one hundred and twenty four Hilton Avenue, Garden City, New York.

Their wedding took place on April 26, 1919, at the bride’s family home. The event was formally announced in Brooklyn Life on April 5, 1919.

Marked TIFFANY & CO.

These copper trays were never mass-produced. Offered only to families who commissioned engraved stationery through Tiffany & Co., they served as cherished keepsakes.

An extraordinary object of both aesthetic and emotional value, capturing a 1919 Garden City marriage - and a moment in New York history.

Condition: Wear commensurate with age and use. The copper is worn and scratched, as shown. The inscription is faint but can still be made out.

Measurements:
7-3/4 h x 5-1/2 w in // 19.5 h x 14 w cm
