Antique John Maddock & Sons extra large ironstone platter, c1906.
Made in England.
This blue transferware pattern is called Dorothy.
Stamped 'John Maddock & Sons Ltd. Royal Vitreous England Dorothy'
Much of the original gold edge has worn off but can still be seen in places (see second last image). There is a black mark on the top of the platter (can be seen in first few images). An imperfection in the glaze, which would have occurred during production, created a slightly raised spot (can be seen in the last image, in the white area near the border). Stains / marks on base (see images). No chips or cracks. In good condition for age with great patina.
Measurements:
19 w x 13-1/2 d in // 48.3 w x 34.3 d cm
