Large coffee table book filled with incredible photographs of New York by nature photographer Carr Clifton. "We see the state's vast natural empire - fertile river valleys, forested mountains, sparkling lakes and powerful rivers."

132 full-colour images accompanied by quotes from 19th-century naturalist John Burroughs. "Born on a farm at the foot of the Catskills in 1837, Burroughs was the most popular and prolific nature writer of his time...It is not surprising, then, that his writings should be such an apt companion to Clifton's photography. Although Clifton hiked Burrough's path a century later, the timeless beauty of the photographer's images and the naturalist's words create a harmony that celebrates our wilderness heritage, and our dedication to preserving it for future generations."

Hardcover. 160 pages.

Minimal wear to dust jacket. Some sun damage to cloth hardcover (see second last image). First few pages have come away from the binding very slightly. Overall in good vintage condition.
