Rare vintage Icaro Rhodes ceramic charger / platter, circa 1950–55.

A large, beautifully hand-decorated ceramic platter from the renowned Icaro (ΙΚΑΡΟΣ) factory on the island of Rhodes, Greece. Founded in 1928, Icaro was celebrated for its reinterpretations of Ottoman Iznik designs, producing richly patterned ceramics for both everyday use and export until its closure in 1988.

This example features a thick clay body with a warm cream ground, adorned with elaborate floral and geometric motifs in deep tones of green, cobalt blue, and rust.

The reverse bears an early hand-painted mark written in Greek (ΙΚΑΡΟΣ ΡΟΔΟΣ), along with decorative detailing—an uncommon and desirable touch. Mounting holes are pierced into the foot rim, with twine still attached for wall display.

A bold, folkloric, and museum-worthy example of mid-century Greek ceramic artistry.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Some age-related crazing.

Measurements:
13-1/2 w in // 34.5 w cm
