Pair of vintage Italian Passata bowls, circa 20th century.
Passata bowls, also known as 'limmi,' originate from Puglia in Southern Italy. They were typically used to make passata or to wash fruits and vegetables.
Handmade terracotta with a white glaze interior and dark green splatters. The exterior of these bowls were traditionally left unglazed due to their utilitarian nature.
Wear consistent with age and use. Both bowls have some chips to the glaze around the rims. The smaller bowl has crazing throughout the glaze. No cracks in terracotta.
Measurements:
Smaller Bowl - 10-1/4 w x 4-1/4 h in // 26 w x 10.8 h cm
Larger Bowl - 12-1/2 w x 6 h in // 31.8 w x 15.2 h cm
