Iconic vintage midcentury red stripe 'Zurich' coffee service designed by Jupp Ernst (1905-1987) for Melitta.
Ernst was a well known German architect, designer and graphic artist. He designed this 'Zurich' series in 1959.
Made in Germany.
Place setting for four. Comes with two extra side plates.
Consists of:
- 4 cups / mugs
- 4 saucers
- 6 side plates
- 1 sugar pot with lid
- 1 coffee pot with lid
The cups and saucers are quite delicate, while the sugar pot, coffee pot and side plates are a bit more substantial.
One of the saucers has a chip (see last image). Very minimal wear to the red stripes, which is common with this series. There is a tiny fleck of white paint on one cup - approx. 2mm in size. Otherwise in quite excellent condition.
Measurements:
Coffee Pot - 8" H x 8.5" W (handle to spout) x 5" DIA (at base)
Cups - 2.5" H x 3" DIA
Saucers - 4.75" DIA
Side Plates - 7.75" DIA
