A unique, naively handcrafted vintage hammered brass candle sconce, circa mid-20th century.
Likely Scandinavian in origin, possibly Swedish. The form and surface treatment are reminiscent of mid-century Nordic folk and studio metalwork, including pieces by Knut Eriksson of Eskilstuna, Sweden.
The shield-shaped backplate is formed from a thin sheet of hand-hammered brass, creating a richly textured surface with an oval indentation at the centre.
Fitted with a hanging hook on the reverse. Holds a standard taper candle.
Condition: Age-appropriate wear including minor indentations, scratches and surface scuffs consistent with material, handcraft, and use. The candle holder has a slight outward bend and the wax catcher plate is gently misshapen. Please refer to images for details.
