A striking mid-century Swedish glass face sculpture designed by Erik Hoglund (1932-1998) for Kosta Boda, circa 1960s-70s.
Rendered in solid clear glass, featuring a stylized, mask-like face emerging from a substantial block form. The surface retains Hoglund’s characteristic raw texture and organic irregularities, with subtle bubbles and light-catching variations within the glass that give the sculpture depth and movement from every angle.
Erik Hoglund was a pioneering figure in postwar Scandinavian glass design. When he began working with Kosta Boda in the 1950s, he challenged traditional Swedish crystal with a more expressive, sculptural approach influenced by folk art and primitive forms. His work is now widely collected for its bold presence and distinctly modernist character.
Signed on base 'B. d. H 1056.' This mark is consistent with Kosta Boda production under Hoglund (Boda + Hoglund).
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minor age consistent wear. No chips or cracks. Some light superficial scuffs and scratches.
Measurements:
4 h x 3 w x 3-1/2 d in // 10 h x 7.5 w x 9 d cm
